U.S. Customers – Tariffs & Import Information
Shipping across the Canada–U.S. border has become a little more layered lately, so we want to explain things as clearly as possible.
Due to current U.S. trade regulations, a 10% U.S. import tariff applies to most goods entering from Canada. Because Canada Post now requires this tariff to be prepaid before a parcel crosses the border, it is added at checkout for U.S. orders as a separate tax line. This ensures your package can move smoothly through customs without delays.
Once your parcel arrives in the United States, it may still be assessed additional charges by U.S. Customs. These can include:
Regular import duties on textile goods (often around 8–12%)
A small customs or USPS processing fee
Any applicable state sales tax
Any additional duties, fees, or taxes assessed upon arrival are the responsibility of the customer and may be collected by USPS at delivery.
For example, on a $95 CAD pouffe shell (approximately $70 USD depending on exchange rate):
10% U.S. tariff (collected at checkout): about $7 USD
Possible additional import duty (approx. 10%): about $7 USD
Possible USPS/customs handling fee: $5–10 USD
State sales tax depending on your location
Every shipment is assessed individually by U.S. Customs, so exact amounts can vary.
We know international shopping is not as simple as it once was, and we truly appreciate your understanding and support of small-batch, sustainably made goods that just happen to cross a border to reach you.

We use biodegradable poly-mailers to ship our pouffes. Any other packaging is second-hand sourced or reused materials. It’s not glamorous, but we are trying to reduce our waste impact in all regards.
